Biden angers GOP for associating ‘trash’ with Trump supporters

With the election a week away, former First Lady Michelle Obama headlined a star-studded voting event in Atlanta for her nonpartisan civic organization When We All Vote.

Obama did not have the same speech he had with Vice President Kamala Harris in Michigan on Saturday. Instead of focusing on reproductive rights, he warned against the dangers of being an apathetic voter.

“Change in this country takes decades, not days. This can be frustrating. Therefore, it is natural to wonder if someone hears you, if someone sees you. It’s healthy to push your leaders to be better, even to question the entire system,” Obama told the audience.

Obama urged these voters to show the same interest in this election as the most “powerful” people in the world.

“I sat down with some of the most powerful people in the world. And let me tell you, most of these people sitting around these tables have absolutely no idea what your life is like,” Obama said. “They cannot care about your indifference. In fact, they welcome it. They welcome this. They are happy to have full control of this game. So every single person with real power in this world is fully involved in the political process.”

He told the audience they “could not” show indifference.

“So all of you, you have a choice. You can listen to them. You can fold your arms and stay at home. Or you can listen to me. If you want to listen to me, I have a warning for you. “There are only a handful of very rich people in the world who can afford to remain indifferent about our politics.”

He continued: “You cannot afford to remain indifferent to who is in power and who makes the rules. And for the young people, you will all be left to clean up this mess as the years pass. Good, because I won’t be here forever. And I don’t want you, all our young people, to look back one day and realize that you don’t even know the world you live in.”

Obama challenged the audience to make sure those in power truly “care” about these voters.

“How do you make sure those in power really care about you? And it’s not just sitting outside, are we getting help? Not by sitting outside. Or by you? It’s using the tools you need to make sure those in power actually see you.”
