VHP, Bajrang Dal to Protest Outside Bangladesh Consulate Over Violence Against Bangladeshi Hindus, Arrested ISKCON Monk

Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal will hold a massive protest in front of the Bangladesh Consulate to show support for Hindus facing attacks in Bangladesh. The protest will also demand the release of the arrested ISKCON monk.

Incidents of violence against Hindus living in Bangladesh are constantly increasing and have become a major problem between India and Bangladesh. While many people took to social media to demand that their safety be ensured, Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal announced a massive protest in solidarity with Hindus in Bangladesh.

Volunteers of VHP and its youth wing Bajrang Dal will gather in front of the Bangladesh Consulate General office at Cuffe Parade World Trade Center at 15.30 and express their support to the Hindu population facing attacks in Bangladesh. The protest will also demand the release of arrested ISKCON priest Chinmoy Das.

At a time when violence against Hindus is on the rise in Bangladesh, Chinmoy Das was arrested by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police on Monday. While Hindus in Bangladesh and around the world opposed the police intervention, India’s Ministry of External Affairs also called the arrest “unfortunate” and said a peaceful religious leader was arrested while the perpetrators of attacks on minorities were caught.

The Free Press Journal had previously reported that ISKCON’s Board of Directors Commissioner Gauranga Das also said that “a person who peacefully follows his religion in any country should be respected.” While the issue remains unresolved, VHP and Bajrang Dal will hit the road on Monday to demand the safety of Hindus.

“We want the ISKCON priest to be released and unilateral attacks on our Hindu brothers to be stopped immediately. Moreover, the perpetrators targeting Hindus must be arrested immediately. VHP’s national spokesperson Shriraj Nair said law and order should be restored in the country so that Hindus can protect their lives and property.
