GoFundMe supports Chelmsford stabbing victim paralyzed in attack

A. GoFundMe It was set up for a local stabbing victim who was left paralyzed as a result of the attack.

According to information on the crowdfunding page, in the early morning hours of November 22, Josée Rouleau was at his flat in Chelmsford when one of his neighbors began harassing him and trying to gain access to his flat.

“When she finally opened the door, her neighbor brutally attacked her with a 6-inch knife, stabbed her multiple times and left her for dead,” said the page set up by the women’s cousin, Felicia Fahey, and her mother, Sue Rouleau. .

Fahey told us Rouleau had both wrists slashed and was stabbed in the front and back of his head and in his chest.

A friend who was in the apartment with him saved his life by calling 911 and tending to his wounds until paramedics arrived.

A press release issued by Greater Sudbury Police last week said the 30-year-old woman was stabbed multiple times and was taken to hospital to be treated for serious injuries.

According to Greater Sudbury police, the suspect is a 33-year-old woman who remained at the scene. He was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Police were dispatched to a residence on Errington Avenue in Chelmsford at 7:30 a.m. on a weapons complaint. One was reportedly stabbed and required immediate medical attention.

“Initial investigations show that the stabbing resulted from an argument between two women,” he said.

Police described the incident as “a targeted and isolated incident as the two individuals involved knew each other.”

The suspect, who was initially charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and mischief, also faces attempted murder charges.

“Through the investigation, officers established reasonable and probable grounds for an attempted murder charge,” a Greater Sudbury Police spokesperson said.

“Since the defendant is in custody, the police are issuing an arrest warrant. “Officers need a judge’s order to change the charge to attempted murder.”

Fahey said the neighbor took exception to one of Rouleau’s small dogs and harassed it all night by knocking on the door and shoving notes under it. The attack took place in the early morning hours, when Rouleau finally opened the door.

The GoFundMe page said the family received word this week about Rouleau’s condition, saying they “pray we never hear about it.”

“The blade of one of the stab wounds cut Josee’s spine, causing paralysis,” he said. “They question whether he will regain mobility or the ability to move his head. Please continue to pray as we move forward on our next steps.”

The woman’s right leg and arm can move, but she has no mobility in her belly area or left side, and no ability to move her neck.

Fahey said his cousin is being treated at Northern Health Sciences but may have to be sent to Southern Ontario for rehabilitation.

“He cries almost every day,” he said, adding that his family tries to keep his spirits up by going to the hospital every day.

The funds from the GoFundMe page, which had raised nearly $2,400 as of Friday afternoon, “will be used for his medical expenses, including rehabilitation and any personal care services or personal support devices he may need at home.”

Rouleau also has three small dogs and a cat that her family currently cares for.

“Please consider donating to this poor girl, she’s had a tough time and any help would be greatly appreciated,” the GoFundMe page said. “On behalf of his entire family, we thank you. Please keep him in your prayers as he fights to regain his life.”

“This was absolutely not his fault and no one deserves this,” Fahey told us.

“We’re just trying to rally the community behind him and show him that everyone cares about him. “I think it will also help his mental health knowing that there’s a big group of people fighting for him.”
