A man is in a critical condition after a serious incident in Porirua overnight.

Emergency services were called after the man was found injured at a property in Kotuku Street, Elsdon, at around 2am on Sunday morning.

Detective senior sergeant Peter Middlemiss said he was taken to hospital and remained in a critical condition.

“Police are currently working to establish the circumstances of what happened and a number of people will be assisting with our investigations today.

“We would like to reassure the public that this is believed to be an isolated incident involving people who know each other and there is not believed to be a wider risk.”
