Police are investigating how a man was left seriously injured following a serious incident in Porirua overnight.

Detective Senior Sergeant Peter Middlemiss said the man was found at an address in Kotuku Street, Elsdon, at around 2am and was taken to hospital where he remained in a critical condition.

“Police are currently working to establish the circumstances of the incident which occurred and a number of people will be assisting with our investigations today,” Middlemiss said.

“We would like to reassure the public that this is believed to be an isolated incident involving people who know each other and there is not believed to be a wider risk.”
