Lynden Breen scores hat trick in Maine win over RPI

Lynden Breen scored a hat trick before exiting the game after an apparent leg injury, leading fifth-seeded Maine to a 6-0 victory over RPI in a Hockey East game Saturday afternoon in Troy, New York.

Breen also assisted on Charlie Russell’s opening goal midway through the first period. He made the score 2-0 just 25 seconds into the second period, and scored two goals 1:55 apart at the beginning of the third period.

Harrison Scott and Frank Djurasevic added power-play goals late in the third quarter and Albin Boija had 16 saves for his third shutout of the season as Maine improved to 9-2-2. RPI is 5-5-1.

MEN’S HOCKEY

PENN 77, MAINE 64: Ethan Roberts played with 23 points and 10 rebounds and the Quakers (3-4) managed to beat the Black Bears (4-4) in Philadelphia.

Kellen Tynes played with 15 points and 6 assists for Maine. AJ Lopez and Quinn Burns scored 13 points each.

Sam Brown added 19 points, Nick Spinoso 14 and Dylan Williams 12 for Penn.
