An investigation continues into the shooting death of a 20-year-old man in Jefferson County Saturday afternoon.

Sheriff’s deputies were working a traffic accident in the area of ​​Northeast 23rd and 25th Streets just before 3 p.m.

Spokesman Henry Irby said a different vehicle arrived at the scene while the investigation was ongoing. The gunshot victim was in the passenger seat.

Center Point Fire and Rescue transported him to UAB Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Irby said the debris was unrelated to the shooting. No additional details were released.
